Abstract

The Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) faces an abysmal health system comprising lack of access, extreme shortage of healthcare workers, and?high disease burden. The use of information and?communication technologies (ICTs) in health (e-health) is a potential solution to these challenges. This systematic literature review synthesizes existing evidence surrounding e-health in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and explores the?success and challenges faced during the implementation as well as the perceived potential of e-health in this complex environment. This study is a?systematic review aimed at investigating and evaluating the literature on e-health implementation in DRC. The study finds that, although?e-health provides great potential, its uptake. problems associated with infrastructure, human resources, funding, policy, and sociocultural?factors are still developing. This paper presents the findings, highlighting key trends, challenges, and opportunities, and offering recommendations for practitioners and researchers to accelerate the effective and sustainable integration of e-health into the DRC's healthcare system.
